Empowering informed decisions through education, transparency, and choice.

At the Pennsylvania Coalition for Informed Consent (PCIC), we believe healthier children begin with informed families, engaged healthcare professionals, and the freedom to explore evidence, ask thoughtful questions, and make healthcare decisions without unnecessary barriers.

One of the ways we support that mission is by connecting healthcare professionals with opportunities to continue learning and expanding their knowledge. When clinicians have access to new research, diverse perspectives, and meaningful professional collaboration, children and families benefit.

We’re excited to share that PCIC is participating in the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) Fall 2026 Symposium for the first time.

We’re not participating to sell products or promote any one treatment or philosophy. We’re participating because we believe education matters. Families deserve healthcare professionals who are committed to lifelong learning and who continually seek better ways to care for children—especially those facing complex medical challenges.

We’re also pleased to support an event that includes our friend **Dr. James Neuenschwander**, whose decades of work caring for medically complex children have helped countless families.

Right Here in Philadelphia! This year, the symposium is being held in Philadelphia, one of our nation’s most historic cities and right here in our own backyard.

For healthcare professionals throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, and the surrounding region, this is an excellent opportunity to attend a nationally recognized educational conference without traveling across the country.

Whether you’re a pediatrician, family physician, chiropractor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, naturopathic physician, nurse, therapist, or another healthcare professional dedicated to improving children’s health, we encourage you to consider attending.

A Special Request to Our Community Many members of the PCIC community are parents and caregivers of children with complex medical needs. You know better than anyone how valuable it is to have healthcare professionals who never stop learning.

If you know a physician, chiropractor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, therapist, or any other healthcare professional who is passionate about helping children achieve better health, please forward this email and encourage them to attend.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give our children’s healthcare team is an opportunity to learn something new.

Thank you for helping us build a future where children have access to healthcare professionals who are curious, compassionate, and committed to continually improving the care they provide. We hope to see many familiar faces in Philadelphia this fall!

Our condolences to Dr. James Neuenschwander, a MAPS clinician and spokesperson, on the recent passing of his wife, Patricia. For years they have been steadfast supporters of medical freedom, and Dr. Neu spoke at a PCIC event in the past. Our thoughts go to Dr. Neu during this difficult time.

Seeking Stories: Dismissal From a Medical Practice Over Vaccine Decisions

We’re updating a list of pediatric and family medical practices that have dismissed patients or families from their practice based on vaccination status or because parents questioned, delayed, or declined recommended vaccines.

If you have personally experienced this, please share:

  • The name and location of the practice.
  • A brief description of what occurred.
  • Whether the dismissal was related to questioning, delaying, or refusing vaccines.
  • A link to the practice’s vaccine policy, if one is publicly available.

Your experiences help document how vaccine policies are affecting families and can provide valuable information to policy makers who respect informed medical decision-making.
