You know your rights. But does every parent?

Pennsylvania parents have the right to claim an exemption from school vaccine requirements based on religious/philosophical beliefs or medical reasons. That means a parent can decline one or more vaccines, and their child can still attend school under Pennsylvania law. Check out our sample exemption letter HERE! You are informing the school that you are using your right to an exemption; they are not able to decline your exemption or ask specific questions about your religious or moral/ethical beliefs.

It’s important to know our rights, but it’s also important to spread the word.

Too many parents still believe that saying “no” to a vaccine means their child won’t be able to attend school. Make sure other Pennsylvania parents know they have choices, too! Use our social media gallery here.

ALSO! If your child attends public or private school: before you sign your child’s back-to-school paperwork, take a close look at any blanket medical consent forms. Don’t unknowingly authorize medical consultations, vaccines, diagnoses, or other treatment without your knowledge and consent, especially if your school has a School-Based Health Center. Need more information on SBHC’s? Our partner, Stand for Health Freedom, has dedicated a whole page to it.

We’re excited to share that PCIC will be participating in the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) Fall 2026 Symposium for the first time.

Held this year in Philadelphia, the conference gives healthcare professionals from Pennsylvania and the surrounding region a unique opportunity to attend a nationally-recognized educational event close to home. We believe families benefit when healthcare professionals are committed to lifelong learning, and we’re proud to support an event featuring our friend, Dr. James Neuenschwander, whose decades of caring for medically complex children have impacted countless families.

If you know a physician, chiropractor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, therapist, or other healthcare professional dedicated to improving children’s health, please forward this email and encourage them to attend. As a MAPS partner, we’re also pleased to offer our community an exclusive 20% discount on registration with code PCIC20. When clinicians register using our affiliate code, they receive the discount while also helping support PCIC’s educational outreach. We hope to see many familiar faces in Philadelphia this fall!
