Dear Medical Freedom Advocate,
We have two urgent state-level priorities this June:
-
Advance the Healthy PA bill package in the House.
-
Stop a harmful Senate bill in its tracks.
🧩 House Action Needed
The Healthy PA bills are currently stalled in committee(s)— but that’s not acceptable. We’ve received feedback that some legislators are waiting around for change to happen at the federal level, but we aren’t okay with state legislators attempting to shirk their duty to protect Pennsylvanians. We need state leadership now to make lasting change in our food system.
✅ Why This Matters & What You Can Do
Pennsylvanians deserve to know that the food they are feeding their families is safe.
It’s finally time. As people who are informed and want to make healthy choices for our families, we’ve waited many years for the opportunity to have a healthier food supply for Pennsylvanians. Although conversation is happening at the federal level, Big Food and Big Pharma are powerful entities. These organizations have proven again and again that they will always choose profits over the health of people. There’s so much work to be done, and it needs to be done right in order for changes to hold fast for many years to come. PCIC volunteers are consistently seeing that work NEEDS to be done at the state level despite what some lawmakers may believe. We can’t just wait around hoping that the changes we want to see will materialize.

“Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I live at [Address]. I’m calling to ask Rep. [Name] to urge Chair Burgos to bring the Healthy PA bills out of the Consumer Protection Committee for a vote. This is a state issue—Pennsylvania cannot wait for federal fixes. Please stand up for our families and advance these bills. Thank you.”
You can use a simple talking point, such as:
- States can and do lead in these issues. The FDA has failed to protect us for years. We can’t afford to wait around for federal gridlock to resolve, if it ever does.
- Pennsylvania must act, just like California, West Virginia, New York, and Texas—states stepping in to protect residents directly.
- States are leading, and PA can’t afford to wait for federal fixes. California, West Virginia, New York, Texas—and even PA’s neighbors—are already setting new standards. By working to move the Healthy PA package of bills forward in committee, you stand up for families, school kids, and consumer transparency—with real momentum and no need to wait for Washington.
- PA’s market isn’t small—action here would ripple through national supply chains, just as CA’s laws did, without requiring federal coordination.
- State regulation also avoids federal preemption in critical protection areas like school food and consumer labeling.
- Parents in Pennsylvania deserve the same protections as parents in the EU and other countries that have already banned food dyes and additives. Why are we behind?
- This is about protecting our kids, not corporate profits. The state should stand with families, not big corporations.
- Dyes and additives can contribute to long-term health risks. Our children are not test subjects for potentially dangerous chemicals. It’s up to us to protect them.
