We Have The Right to Know

Freedom demands accountability. That’s why we’re standing alongside grassroot groups across Pennsylvania and firm opposition to SB 790. While this bill isn’t one we would typically engage on, its potential to undermine transparency poses a serious threat to advocacy organizations like PCIC — and to citizens statewide. Though the language has changed since last session, our core concern remains: we must not allow government agencies to sidestep public scrutiny. We should be encouraging complete transparency from governmental and local agencies so that citizens don’t need to rely on Right-to-Know requests in the first place.

We need you to help stop a bad bill that would limit transparency and deny access to public records.

Senate Bill 790 would allow government agencies to label citizens as “vexatious requesters” and deny them access to public records. This would threaten our right to transparency.

It was introduced May 28, 2025 by Senator Dush (R) and was referred to the Senate State Government committee. He chairs this committee and the bill was passed out of committee 9 (yes) – 2 (no) on June 3, 2025.

Journalists, parents, taxpayers, and advocates could all be blocked from public information under this bill. It targets those who ask tough questions. Please help us stop this bill from moving forward!
