Now that 2024 is ending, we have been reflecting on what a wild ride this year has been. At the start of the year, we weren’t really sure what to expect. We had lots of questions– what would the election bring? What kinds of problems would arise to complicate the situation? Would candidates finally support medical freedom and acknowledge issues with problematic CV Vs at the very least? With the holiday season here and the end of 2024 on our doorstep, we are excited to see how medical freedom and informed consent advocates are being recognized as leaders and being asked to participate in legislative and regulatory decision-making!
In our Thanksgiving email, we reflected on all the wins we participated in throughout the past year. Today, we want to reflect on how far our movement has come on a bigger scale since Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. suspended his Presidential campaign and endorsed President Trump. So many of us could share personal stories of friends and family members having their eyes opened in the last 4-6 months during the presidential campaign as medical freedom and informed consent became household phrases.
On August 23, 2024, we witnessed history being made as RFK, Jr. delivered a powerful speech that will go down as one of the most influential speeches in history. His speech addressed a variety of topics that are dear to us including the way he was censored and silenced by the legacy media.
The pinnacle of his speech came when he addressed the chronic disease epidemic by bringing it center stage as the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement was born. He laid out the ways Big Pharma, Big Ag, and Big Food industries have captured our government agencies and how our government has done nothing to fix the corruption. The statistics he shares are staggering. He ends his speech by describing how much he and his family have sacrificed and how agonizing the decision was to suspend his campaign and endorse President Trump. He says, “Ultimately, the only thing that will save our country and our children is if we choose to love our kids more than we hate each other. That’s why I launched my campaign to unify America.” His speech was moving and worth watching or reading via this IM-1776 transcription. Later that evening, Kennedy joined President Trump on stage at Trump’s rally in Arizona, walking out to “Hero” by Foo Fighters with pyrotechnics going off in the background. This was all setting the stage for an endorsement that will forever change our movement.
Friends– just think about the number of interviews and podcasts you’ve seen shared or watched since then that discuss the chronic disease epidemic and medical freedom. These issues are being discussed on large platforms that those of us who have been around for any amount of time would only DREAM of.
Now, we end 2024 with RFK, Jr. being nominated as secretary of Health and Human Services under the Trump administration. This is a nomination that will have an uphill battle to be confirmed, but it is a nomination that will change our movement once again. No doubt we will need to apply pressure on our US Senators to confirm such a nomination, but even now, Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democrat from Vermont, former presidential candidate and current chair of the Senate HELP committee, held a hearing titled “What Is the FDA Doing to Reduce the Diabetes and Obesity Epidemics in America and Take on the Greed of the Food and Beverage Industry?” on Capitol Hill to discuss the chronic disease epidemic. While he hasn’t come out and said he will vote to affirm Kennedy’s nomination, he is aligning with the MAHA issues that address Big Food and the poor health of our children and has said Kennedy is right when it comes to these issues.
Our movement has come SO FAR in a short period of time, and prominent individuals from the movement are poised to be in positions of power. However, our work is NOT done. The doors and windows into conversations with friends, family, and especially our state legislators ARE wide open now. We would encourage you to keep the momentum going even now and reach out to Senator Fetterman and Senator Casey (because Senator-elect McCormick is not officially sworn in) to let them know you support Kennedy’s nomination. An easy way to do this is by completing this Stand for Health Freedom form.
Stay tuned for additional action items early in 2025 as confirmation hearings and our state lobby days begin. It will require making multiple contacts to our senators in D.C. We are poised for ACTION in unprecedented ways in 2025. Please be sure you’re following us on social media for actionable steps you can take to further medical freedom in Pennsylvania and America in the new year. Together, we will Make America Healthy Again!
