APRIL PCIC ACTION ALERT

If you’ve participated in our recent action alerts, you’ve seen that our focus has been HB2013, a constitutional amendment providing for an undeniable right to medical freedom. This bill would need to pass in two consecutive legislative sessions, and then be put on the ballot for a referendum vote.

Thank you for all the calls and meetings – we have gained many new cosponsors for HB2013 and are now up to 48! It is incredible to see these efforts paying off through the hard work of advocates all across the state. Still, there is work to do; we need to keep the momentum going, and we need more cosponsors and support for this bill and others.

We need everyone to:

1. Continue calling and meeting with your state representative to ask them to cosponsor HB2013 and push leadership to bring it up for a vote on the House floor. If you’ve called previously, follow up with them.

If your representative is already a co-sponsor, or if you’ve just completed this step, it’s time to plant some seeds!

2. Identify three like-minded friends, family, or groups and ask them to call their representative about HB2013. If you have a friend who believes in medical freedom but hasn’t taken 3 minutes to call their representative – ask them to call. Share February’s action alert details to help them with their calling efforts.  If you have a group in your school district who worked to make masks optional – ask them to call. We are a people-powered, grassroots group, and that means that we need to keep growing our efforts!

If you want to know more about HB2013 or to download printable resources see our dedicated blog post HERE.

3. Ask your state representative to VOTE YES on HB1741.  We expect Representative Keefer’s HB1741 to be brought up for a House vote. This bill would allow prescribers to prescribe and pharmacists to dispense any FDA-approved medications for off-label use to treat COVID-19. This bill would help people to access needed medications – mitigating effects of COVID-19 and potentially saving lives.

Be sure to share any personal stories about difficult accessing medications for COVID (i.e. ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine). If your representative gives you feedback that they will give a YES vote or a NO vote, please let us know at informedconsent2015@gmail.com.

As we get closer and closer to primary elections on May 17, look out for PCIC’s Election Guide coming soon! Remember to register to vote or update your voter registration, if needed, by May 2. PCIC is partnering with Stand for Health Freedom in creating our PA voting guide. The May primaries are incredibly important in determining whether health freedom supporters are voted into office or not – which will determine health freedom legislation for years to come.
