THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 6, @ 1:00, the Pennsylvania Senate Education Committee will hold a hearing to question representatives from both the PA Department of Health and the PA Department of Education about school reopening plans. Our legislators have heard form SCORES of parents who want a normal, healthy, return to school in 2021, and they want to know that these agents, though unelected, are still accountable to the families of Pennsylvania. Parents have been attending school board meetings in record numbers, but many of those boards are “passing the buck”, saying their hands are tied by the regulations put forth by these state agencies.
PARENTS MUST CONTINUE TO TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO STAND UP FOR OUR KIDS AND DEMAND A STOP TO THE PHYSICALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY HARMFUL RESTRICTIONS IN SCHOOLS.
PLEASE SHOW UP!
We cannot bring signs, but if you have a folder with a flyer, like THIS ONE or THIS ONE, or maybe THIS ONE, you could certainly make it visible from your seat during the hearing.
From the first hearing we attended back in 2015, PCIC members wear red when we visit the Capitol to create visual solidarity. We may not be able to speak, but our coordinated and consistent presence will send a message.
The Hearing will take place in the NORTH OFFICE BUILDING. MAP
GPS address to the Capitol Complex is 1723 Commonwealth Ave, Harrisburg, PA 17120
Metered street parking is typically plentiful on 3rd St., State St., and the surrounding area. If you need to use a ramp to get into the building, park near 3rd & Walnut and leave plenty of time to get where you want to go.
